Zinging with colour and exceptional style, this Grade B listed, Scottish Baronial-style townhouse, dating from the 1870’s, has been entirely transformed in to comfortable, spacious accommodation. Close to the centre of the small town of Selkirk, this detached property sits high with stunning views over the surrounding hills, and the iconic five turrets can be seen against the skyline. The spectacular triple height living area has inviting sofas arranged around the wood burner, with lots of room to gather round the dining table and enjoy a lovely meal. A personal chef can be arranged for special occasions, and the kitchen is fully equipped for every culinary requirement. The mezzanine library with huge TV and vibrant sofas positively encourages relaxation and conviviality, and the roomy hall, with its white piano. The eclectic selection of furniture is complimented by gorgeously styled handwoven fabrics, artworks and photography, all very evident in the bedrooms, one of which has a tiny turret with a reading chair just squeezed in.
Selkirk’s central location is perfect for outdoor activities. There are numerous short and long distance trails for walkers, internationally renowned fishing on the River Tweed and its tributaries, local golf courses, many are quiet, interesting and great value, and mountain bikers can head to the world-class 7 Stanes mountain biking courses, including the nearby Glentress Forest, 30 minutes’ drive away. The area is suitable for all levels of adrenalin junkies, or alternatively, head to Go Ape for a tree top adventure. The area is steeped in history with many houses and gardens to discover. Floors Castle and Sir Walter Scott’s home at Abbotsford are nearby, Edinburgh is an hour north by road or train and the Kielder Forest and Hadrian’s Wall lie to the south.
