Boasting unparalleled views in a truly enviable rural location, this beautiful, stylishly furnished villa offers a luxurious retreat.

Boasting unparalleled views in a truly enviable rural location, this beautiful, stylishly furnished villa offers a luxurious retreat.

There are not many properties that combine sea views, fascinating history and outstanding interior design, but Craiganrioch is this rare commodity. Situated on the water’s edge with views right across Campbeltown bay and out to the ever interesting Davaar Island, visitors won’t want to leave this delightful Victorian villa.

The owner is an interior designer and the attention to detail to the fixtures, fittings and furnishings is sublime and the quality is of the highest level. From the long, characterful entrance hallway there is a living room with chesterfield sofas and beautiful bay window framing the inspiring seascape view. The kitchen/dining room is large and complete with centrepiece butler sink. On the ground floor there is also a very useful utility/boot room and downstairs toilet.

Ascending the wide, wooden staircase a huge centrepiece stained-glass window lets an abundance of natural light flood into the property. The first floor family bathroom boasts a free-standing bath, perfectly positioned next to a large window overlooking the sea. The bathroom also has a spacious walk-in rainfall shower.

The two bedrooms complete the first floor. At the front of the property and with a large bay window is the master double bedroom. There are two armchairs positioned in the bay window, along with a telescope to spot birdlife and marine mammals. The master bedroom also has a luxury sofa bed, for flexible sleeping. The other bedroom is also very well designed and contains both a double and a 2ft 6in single bed.

To the front of the property is an enclosed garden with unobstructed sea views, while at the rear there is a small courtyard garden.

Campbeltown is an up and coming destination in a charmingly remote location at the southern end of the Kintyre Peninsula. A former royal burgh of Scotland and once coined “the whisky capital of the world” due to its 30 distilleries, there’s a lot of history and stories to unpick. Bars, cafés and restaurants are all within walking distance of Craiganrioch, and so too are a choice of whisky distilleries.

There’s an abundance of walks in the southern part of the peninsula and many quiet roads to take a bicycle for a jaunt. As well as the Kintyre Way that runs along the length of the peninsula there are footpaths throughout the Mull of Kintyre from Campbeltown down to the beach at Southend, St Columba’s Chapel and the dramatically placed lighthouse.

Many visiting this part of Scotland will be making a beeline for the golf course and/or the distilleries. The Machrihanish Golf Club established in 1876 and designed by Old Tom Morris has been voted “The Best Opening hole in Golf”. This older course is complemented by the equally impressive and newer Machrihanish Dunes course.

Craiganrioch is an outstanding and inspiring place to stay, one that people return to time and time again. This luxurious holiday cottage is perfect for couples, small groups and families. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
