Canterra Cottage Lodge is a modern, solid wood lodge cottage situated in the grounds of the owner’s detached country house. It is set in open countryside just 2 miles from the delightful Highland seaside village of Portmahomack. The living area and small kitchen/dining area are all in one open plan room. There are two double bedrooms, both attractively presented and furnished, making this cottage ideal for couples and small families. A pretty patio table and chairs immediately outside make an ideal spot for al fresco dining. Visitors also have the use of a large barbeque situated in the cottage gardens that surround the property. There are excellent amenities all within close proximity. Within a mile is the stunning sandy beach of Portmahomack, with superb views to the Sutherland mountains beyond. Two miles away is the centre of the village, with its attractive fishing harbour and small pier. Portmahomack also has a choice of restaurants as well as a pub, village shop, café and a traditional links golf course which is open to visitors. The area is noted for its archaeological sites and at the nearby Tarbat Discovery Centre there is a fascinating display of Pictish, Norse and Medieval artefacts. There are superb coastal walks direct from the cottage. A particularly spectacular walk follows the coast, passing the Tarbat lighthouse on the promontory. Within 10 minutes’ drive lies the oldest Royal Burgh of Scotland. Predominantly built of local sandstone, Tain is a charming historic town and offers an excellent selection of small shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs, as well as a wide variety of sporting and recreational facilities.
